About the book

She was born a princess. They made her an assassin.

One was an accident. Two a coincidence. By three, they would know. It would be harder. But I would avenge my mother’s death. These kings would pay that price.

Seven cities make up the Storm Queen’s Realm, each of their self-crowned, murderous kings one of Princess Myrina’s marks. The treasonous curs may have banded together to share a stolen throne, but soon they will fall.

They thought her dead, killed in the massacre. They thought their rule secure. But Myrina of Stormskeep has awoken, and with the help of her loyal bloodsworn, the shadow princess will have her revenge.

For fans of The Witcher and Game of Thrones—a new princess set on vengeance is here to steal your heart.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I received this one as part of a tour.

I remember seeing the cover and I was sold with this one, and when I read the blurb I knew I had to read it. It’s the first one I read from Melissa Wright, she is author of a dozen fantasy and YA novels including the Frey Saga and SEVEN WAYS TO KILL A KING. She is currently working on the next book, but when not writing can be found collecting the things she loves at Goodreads and Pinterest. Contact her at her Website .

I hope you get to know her on any of her amazing books.

First Impressions

At the very beginning the story was a little slow, but in order to understand everything that is happening, it couldn’t be rushed that mush, so in the first chapters is more than anything a little of the past and the background of our protagonist Miri.

By the middle it does pick up a lot, but you have a better understanding of the world and the situation Miri and Cassius are in and the path they need to follow.

And at the end it wrap up very nicely with all the twists and the conclusion of our path, the pace I will say it’s not to slow nor super fast but very steady and it will have you making a lot of theories on who the bad ones really are.

Characters

In this book something I noticed is that the characters got very good development as the story advances and the loyalties begin to get known.

With Miri you can see a lot of determination driven her, and to the path she decided to take upon herself: Cassius is very interesting, thorn between duty and want he is our anchor through the story and is a very loyal character.

Another favorite was Ginger, she was a respite with all the drama going on and was very brave too, she shows us in this story the selflessness of what humans are capable of.

Final Thoughts

After getting to the end, I was so satisfied with the story and with the ending, something I liked a lot on this book was the detailed descriptions on it, you could actually imagine every place and every situation, so that made you get very immerse in the story from very early on.

It was an awesome fantasy with lots of drama and a little romance along the way.
