Sharlin Craig Interview

“Ornaments of Love”

Tell us a little about yourself and your background?

I teach private piano, voice and flute lessons out of my home. I’m married with a

9-year- old daughter, have a bachelors in marketing, grew up in Michigan and

now live in CA. I love writing for kids and have many ideas for future writing

projects.

Which writers inspire you? The writers who touch me emotionally or simply

make me laugh inspire me. Some of my favorites are: “Wish” and “Hello, Hello”

by Matthew Cordell, “No David” by David Shannon, “Bark George” by Jules

Feiffer, “Mrs. McBloom, Clean Up Your Classroom!” by Kelly DiPucchio, and

“Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge” by Mem Fox.

Have you written any other novels in collaboration with other writers?

No

When did you decide to become a writer?

I’ve always loved to write children’s stories and music. I just self-published my

first children’s picture book in December, 2015.

Do you write full-time or part-time?

I write part-time.

Do you work to an outline or plot or do you prefer just see where an idea

takes you? I like to have an overall idea in my mind of the story first, but also

like to brainstorm and free-flow write to let the creativity come out as I write.

Do you have a strategy for finding reviewers?

Not yet.

What are your thoughts on good/bad reviews?

Of course I prefer the good reviews, but I’m also realistic that not everyone will

love what I write.

How can readers discover more about you and you work?

Readers can go to my website at sharlincraig.com and check out my books:

“Ornaments of Love” picture book and “Ornaments of Love Coloring Book-

Slowing Down with Family at Christmas Time” on Amazon.com.

Any Comments for the Blog readers?

There are free English and Spanish mp3 audio versions available (through a Url

at the back of the book) for readers who purchase the picture book. The audio

versions are also available on cdbaby.com for 99c. For those who purchase the

coloring book, there are additional free coloring pages available through a Url at

the back of the book so the whole family can color together.

Any feedback for me or the blog?

Great blog. Very informative and interesting!
