Tell us a little about yourself and your background?
My name is Nikki. I write paranormal romance, suspense, and all kind of other
things! I love animals and tea. I also have an independent editing company,
Metamorphosis Editing Services.
Which writers inspire you?
Neil Gaiman, Anne Rice, Augusten Burroughs, H.D. Gordon, my workshop
partners.
Have you written any other novels in collaboration with other writers?
I wish! I’ve always wanted to but I feel like I’m too much of a control freak.
However, I wouldn’t say that I would never collaborate with another author. It
could be fun!
When did you decide to become a writer?
I don’t think there was ever a defining moment. I just wrote when I wanted/had
time and then I decided to share it, which by default made me an author. But as
long as I can remember—probably as early as third or fourth grade—I was
always making up stories.
Do you write full-time or part-time?
I write whenever I have time. Since I work from home and run my own business
during the day, the hours vary. I can work anywhere from 5-18 hours a day and
then what’s left I use to write. I love writing more than any other thing I could do
to take up my time, so it’s kind of a reward after a long day of work.
Do you work to an outline or plot or do you prefer just see where an idea
takes you?
I usually don’t plot. I like to write and find out the things that happen organically
and if I plot, I just feel like I’m making the characters do things when if I had left
them alone they could have done something completely different.
Do you have a strategy for finding reviewers?
I think all strategies are good ones as long as you aren’t bugging people. I ask
politely if a reviewer would like to read and review my book through goodreads,
facebook groups, and their blogs directly. It’s worked so far.
What are your thoughts on good/bad reviews?
I like reviews—good or bad. They tell me what I’m doing right and what I can
improve on if they’re done right. Sometimes bad reviews aren’t very helpful
when they aren’t constructive, so I get a little hurt once in a while but they don’t
bother me as much as they used to. I welcome everyone’s opinion on my work.
How can readers discover more about you and you work?
You can find me anywhere on the internet! I have a facebook group and page, a
twitter, goodreads, instagram—you name it! I love speaking to readers and
talking about books!
Any Comments for the Blog readers?
Hi! I hope you give one of my books a try. If you like dark romance with realistic
characters, I’m your gal!
