Florian Armas Interview

Which writers inspire you?

As a child, I grew up with Frank Herbert, Tolkien and Stanislaw Lem. They pushed me into reading more Science Fiction and Fantasy, and childhood is the period that forms you in any aspect.

Have you written any other novels in collaboration with other writers?

I have only one novel, written alone; however I have technical books done in collaboration.

When did you decide to become a writer?

At this moment, I cannot consider myself a writer – one book doesn’t make you automatically a writer. Maybe an aspiring one.

Do you write full-time or part-time?

Well, part time, that meaning weekend time, plane time, train time and so on.

Do you work to an outline or plot or do you prefer just see where an idea takes you?

A mixture of both, you cannot start a novel without a plan, but then the plan changes when new ideas take over you. Of course this comes from the ‘huge’ experience of writing only one novel.

Do you have a strategy for finding reviewers?

I am still struggling to find one, so I accept any new idea 🙂

What are your thoughts on good/bad reviews?

Well, I have a normal human reaction to both types: good is good and bad is… What I don’t really like are reviews written without reading the book, or reading only a small part, without mentioning it. It happens that I have several of those.

How can readers discover more about you and you work?

They need a time travel machine to find my next novel. Time destination is the beginning of next year.

Any feedback for me or the blog?

It is not easy to write a bilingual blog, and it makes a bridge between two cultures. So, keep up the good work.

Great interview. I think Florian expressed exactly how all new/aspiring authors feel (or should feel). It's all relative until it actually happens.

I have never done an author interview before – you are brave!
